Uganda & Rwanda are a unique destination, which jointly offers Mountain Gorillas, besides chimpanzee, baboons, hippos, crocodile, elephants, lions, leopard, and hundreds of bird species.

Recent Events

Gorilla Permits in Uganda are US$ 600.00 per person. Low Season (April, May & November) incentive rate for Uganda Gorilla Permit is US$ 350.00 per person.

However, anytime of the year Rwanda Gorilla Permit still remains at $750.00 per person. It has just been announced by RDB on May 06th 2017 that Rwanda Gorilla Permits shall henceforth cost US$ 1,500.00 per person. We do not have any further details at the moment. We will issue further updates as more details emerge.

In both countries, children under 15 years of age are not allowed on gorilla treks.

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe //..

Arrival at Entebbe, transfer to the Lake Victoria Serena Resort, for overnight: Lake Victoria Serena Resort – BB.

Day 2: Kampala City Tour //..

Breakfast at the resort till 8h30. Depart at 09h00 for City Tour of Kampala, including visit to Lubaga Catholic Cathedral, view Buganda Parliament at Bulange, view the Old Kampala Grand Mosque, visit Namirembe Anglican Cathedral, visit the Kasubi King’s Tombs. On the way from the Kasubi Tombs, view the Makerere University – the region’s oldest university, Mulago National Hospital, and visit the Uganda Museum (with live performance of folk dancers if group is bigger than 10 pax). Buffet lunch is included at Kampala Serena Hotel during city tour.

After lunch view of the Parliament Building, Law Courts, and subsequently visit the Nakasero Market, before returning to Lake Victoria Serena Resort – FB.

Day 3: Excursion to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary //..

Morning Ngamba Island excursion – no stop at Uganda Wildlife Education Centre. Lunch at Laico Lake Victoria Resort, formally Windsor Lake Victoria Hotel, before returning to Lake Victoria Serena Resort by 4.30 pm. Dinner and overnight: Lake Victoria Serena Resort - HB.

Day 4: Kampala – Kibale Forest National Park //..

Start at 07h00, and drive westward towards Kibale Forest National Park. Lunch at our lodge outside the park.  Afternoon free to take a free optional walk to view the nearby lakes. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge  – FB.

Day 5: Explore Kibale Forest National Park //..

Breakfast at the lodge, morning chimp-tracking in the Kibale National Park. You get a chance to hear the noisy chimps and other primates crashing around through the high canopy of the forest. Warm lunch at the Primate Lodge – if not so, we shall have carried our own picnic lunch boxes. In the afternoon, visit the village of Bigobi, visiting a village primary school. If it is school holiday, we shall instead visit Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary in Magombe Swamp - a haven for birds! Back for dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge  – FB.

Day 6: Kibale - Queen Elizabeth National Park //..

After breakfast, morning drive via Fort Portal to Mweya Safari Lodge. Lunch at the lodge and time for leisure by the very nice pool there. Late afternoon game drive in the Queen Elizabeth National Park with a ranger guide of the park (we pay tip). Dinner and overnight: Mweya Safari Lodge - FB.

Day 7: Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park //..

Morning game drive in the Queen Elizabeth National. Visit the Lake Katwe for the view of the saline lake. Return to the lodge for lunch. Afternoon boat trip on the Kazinga Channel to Lake Edward and back viewing hippos, birds, and a fishing village from the boat. Dinner and overnight: Mweya Safari Lodge – FB.

Day 8: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest //..

Early drive southward via Ishasha into Bwindi Forest National Park. Lunch at our destination lodge, the Silverback Lodge on the edge of the Bwindi Forest. In the afternoon, enjoy a nature walk up to the Munyaga Waterfall and a chance to see primates. Dinner and overnight: Silver Back Lodge - FB.

Day 9: Explore Bwindi Impenetrable Forest //..

Early morning gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Lunch boxes provided by the lodge. Rest of the afternoon may be free, but if there is enough time left after gorilla trekking, there is an optional included walk of Buhoma village to visit a local bar, visit handicraft shops and view entertainment by orphans and students of the village, with their Bakiga dances. Dinner and overnight: Silver Back Lodge - FB.

Day 10: Bwindi Forest / Uganda – Kisoro - Volcanoes National Park/ Rwanda //..

Drive to the Uganda/Rwanda Border. At Cyanika Border you cross on your same Uganda vehicles into Rwanda. RWANDA SECTION Continue to Volcanoes National Park - Rwanda. Lunch at our destination lodge, the Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. Afternoon visit to the nearby Iby’Iwacu traditional village. Dinner and 1st overnight: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge – FB.

Day 11: Explore Volcanoes National Park //..

After breakfast, embark on a Golden Monkey excursion for most of the morning. Return to the lodge for lunch (may be usual time lunch /may be late lunch). Afternoon small tour of lakes Burera and Ruhondo (views from Virunga Lodge), and visit Handicraft Village near Muhabura Hotel in Ruhengeri. Dinner and 2nd overnight: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge – FB.

Day 12: Explore Volcanoes National Park //..

After breakfast, morning Gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park – your ultimate chance to come face to face with a Mountain Gorilla Silverback. Return to the lodge may be for usual time lunch or for late lunch, depending on the results of the trekking. Afternoon is free to relax or opportunity to visit a cereal beer factory nearby. Dinner and 3rd overnight: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge – FB.

Day 13: Volcanoes National Park (Ruhengeri) – Gisenyi //..

Drive to L. Kivu Serena Hotel in Gisenyi visiting en route the former house of Madam Rosamond Carr and the Orphanage nearby. City tour of Gisenyi (good viewpoints of the Lake Kivu, the nearby Goma City and the fish market). Lunch at the hotel, and afternoon is spent at leisure at the L. Kivu Serena Hotel on the shores of Lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight: L. Kivu Serena Hotel - FB.

Day 14: Gisenyi (on Lake Kivu) – Kibuye (on Lake Kivu) – Nyungwe Forest N Park //..

After breakfast, take a speed boat trip to the town of Kibuye, passing by the Napoleon Hat Island to see thousands of bats. Early lunch at Moriah Hill Resort. After lunch, stop at the Home St.Jean, a Genocide Memorial Church, and subsequently drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Dinner and 1st overnight: Nyungwe Rainforest Lodge – HB.

Day 15: Explore Nyungwe Forest National Park //..

After breakfast, morning forest nature walk in the park. This may be anything other than Chimpanzee Tracking, since we will have seen enough on Ngamba Island and in Kibale National Park. Return to the lodge for lunch.  In the afternoon, take a Black-and-White Colobus Monkey trip followed by a visit to the Gisakura Tea Factory. Return in the evening for dinner and overnight at: Nyungwe Forest Lodge  – FB.

Day 16: Nyungwe N. Park - Huye – Nyanza – Kigali City //..

Breakfast at the lodge, drive to Huye with a visit to the workshop of the Tin Smith of Huye. Lunch at Ibis Hotel. Visit the National Museum in Huye, and view the performance of the Urugangazi Group of Intore-dancers. On the way to Kigali, visit the Nyanza King’s Palace. Arrive in Kigali for dinner and overnight at the Kigali Serena Hotel – HB.

Day 17: Kigali City Tour.

After breakfast, depart for City Tour of Kigali, including the Kamp Kigali, City Centre, Hotel des Mille Collines, Sainte-Famille Church, Kimironko Market, Genocide Memorial of Gisozi, Parliament Building and Rugunga Curio Market. Farewell lunch at the Kigali Serena Hotel. Proceed as to your home-bound flight schedules, which may be flight to Nairobi to connect, or day rooms till 07.00 pm. No dinner! Transfer to Kigali Airport at for KLM flight to Amsterdam via Entebbe.
