Day 1:: Kampala – L. Mburo National Park
Depart by 07:30 am. Drive southwest to L. Mburo with a stopover break at the Equator. Arrive for lunch. Afternoon game-drive and boat ride trip to a fishing village. Lying in one part of Uganda covered in extensive acacia woodland, Mburo has markedly different fauna compared with the other parks and reserves.
Lake Mburo is the best place in the country to see the gigantic eland antelope, as well as zebra, waterbuck, klipspringer, topi, impala, and several acacia – associate birds. The five lakes within the park attract hippos, crocodiles and a variety of water birds, while fringing swamps hide secretive papyrus specialists such as sitatunga, red, black and yellow papyrus gonalek. Dinner and overnight: Mihingo Lodge, or similar.
Day 2:: L. Mburo - Queen Elizabeth National Park
Breakfast - followed by a morning game drive, or safari walk. Lunch at our lodge, then drive through volcanic formations of the Western Rift Valley towards the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Our first game-drive is en route to our lodge. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge, or similar.
Day 3:: Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park
Breakfast at the lodge. Enjoy a whole morning game drive in another part of the park. Find large herds of elephants, buffalo, or Uganda Kob as you search for lions in the thickets. We utilize the last hours of the morning visiting Lake Katwe Salt Mines to see where Uganda gets her table salt and mineral salts to animals. We return to our lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, we take a unique 2-Hour Boat Cruise on the Kazinga Channel into Lake Edward. The trip passes through possibly the highest hippo concentration in Africa and many mammals may be seen drinking at the water's edge. The cruise offers an excellent platform for photography and game viewing. Bird life is occasionally very colorful and abundant here. These two game drives and the boat trip are a memorable discovery of the diverse array of Ugandan wildlife. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge, or similar.
Day 4:: Queen Elizabeth – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Breakfast at the lodge. Departure for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Journey takes us via Ishsha - a section of Queen Elizabeth Park – famous for tree-climbing lions. On a lucky day, one could see lions up in a tree. Drive out of the savannah, and view banana plantations and herds of Ankole cattle with their incredibly long curving horns. You ascend into the Kigezi Highlands, commonly known as the "Switzerland of Africa", with terraced farming and mountain scenery. Check in at our camp in Bwindi to spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight: Mahogany Springs, or similar
Day 5:: Gorilla Treking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide, today we enter the gorilla sanctuary carrying our lodge-provided lunch-boxes for our adventure. The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular. The area offers dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but criss-crossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savoured. Many find it to be a rare and moving opportunity. Dinner and overnight: Mahogany Springs, or similar
Day 6:: Bwindi – Domestic Flight from Kihihi Airstrip – Entebbe
